ABOUT
We are a family business working from a small workshop
restoring and selling classic handmade flutes
and making wooden headjoints.
Arthur grew up in London where he studied, composed, and played sessions. After moving north he had the good fortune to meet the renowned British flutemaker William Simmons, who became his mentor. Over the years, Arthur’s experience in all aspects of repair has grown into a passion for restoring handmade classic flutes and making wooden headjoints.
Tina hails from Kent. She studied Fine Art at Northumbria University, concentrating on sculpture, and painting which she still practices. She has an artist’s eye and a craftswoman’s skill which she employs both in the design and sculpting of our headjoints, and the delicate processes of preparation and conservation.
Sally studied music at Leeds University. After a period working for a piano retailer she moved into marketing, and rose to become the marketing manager of a dynamic and fast-growing tech company. She is therefore the perfect person to take on the job of managing our new online shop and dealing with all our marketing and sales.
FROM 2006 to the last of the British Flute Society International Conventions organised by Trevor Wye in 2012, I was the official on-site repairer. In exchange for free accommodation and expenses, I spent each event behind a pile of misbehaving flutes that had arrived with their worried owners from all over the world.
After twenty-four years of repairing we now concentrate on restoring classic Rudall Carte wooden flutes, and bringing these to market. We have developed our own wooden headjoints, made in the British tradition with the needs of today's players in mind.

TESTIMONIALS
I have one of the great Rudall Carte wooden flutes that I played for over 40 years. I plucked up courage and asked Arthur to give it a real overhaul. Wow! What a miracle he has achieved. The Rudall Carte is WONDERFUL. As good as new, and in perfect playing condition. A true joy again in my life.
Atarah Ben-Tovim MBE (formerly Principal Flute Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra, lately Chair of the British Flute Society; star of theatre, tv, and radio with her music educational shows and programmes).
Arthur's work on my three Rudall Carte wooden flutes, including a rare flute d'amore, was outstanding. He is of the old school: he keeps going until the flute is in perfect playing order. I have no hesitation in recommending him.
Trevor Wye (Solo artist; professor at Guildhall and Royal Northern Colleges of Music; Director of British Flute Society Conventions; author of numerous instruction books; etc.).
"I shipped my 100 year old wooden Rudall Carte in a barely working condition and it has just arrived safely back in Canada, playing beautifully. Thank you so much for your amazing work!"
